TBTA - Reconstruction & Rehab of Upper-Level Decks at Verrazzano Narrows Bridge

The project included the rehabilitation and replacement of Staten Island upper-level approaches and Brooklyn westbound upper-level approach decks, as well as both Staten Island and Brooklyn upper-level anchorage decks at Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. The scope includes work within these limits including the replacement of existing steel rocker bearings with isolation bearings, superstructure steel repairs, strengthening, and seismic upgrades performed at all approaches. At anchorage spans, the entire superstructure steel envelope, including stringers and floor beams, was replaced.

  • Project A: Replacement of the existing deck, existing steel bearings, isolation bearings, superstructure repairs and strengthening, and seismic upgrades.

  • Project B: Construction of a new upper-level and lower-level right hand exit to the belt parkway.

  • Project C: Rehabilitate and widen eastbound upper and lower-level ramps.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Jois Construction Management was responsible for construction cost estimates at 40%, 70%, and 100%. JCMS was also responsible for scheduling services and developing all construction schedules during the design phase. Reviewed/coordinated estimates with the schedule to determine productivity and manpower requirements and participated in scheduling and risk analysis workshops.
