Renovations and Additions at Kingsway Middle School and Kingsway High School

HIGH SCHOOL

The project consists of a regional high school, 37,500 SF of additions to the school including fifteen new science classrooms and expansion of the media center, training room, music classrooms, and cafeteria. The project also included 17,500 SF of renovations to district and school offices, locker rooms, field house, and television studio as well as a partial roof replacement.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

At the regional middle school, 42,000 SF of additions added eighteen new classrooms and a gymnasium, as well as an expansion of the cafeteria. The project also included 22,000 SF of renovation at the computer rooms, locker rooms, and school offices.

RESPONSIBILITY:

Jois Construction Management worked with the Project Management firm and developed construction cost estimates at the 100% construction document phase. Jois Construction Management provided cost estimating services at the 100% design stage to the construction manager for the school district. The program for Kingsway Regional School District consists of renovations and additions at two of the district’s upper schools to accommodate the recent enrollment growth.

Working with the Project Management Firm, Jois Construction Management was responsible for preparing 50%, 100% design development documents and 100% construction documents cost estimates.

Jois Construction Management reviewed the initial scope documents and visited the project site to assess accessibility issues, lay-down areas, staging areas, etc. As the design evolved, Jois Construction Management reviewed the design documents and available specifications and established a project WBS-based format for preparing a detailed cost estimate based on CSI’s Master Format.
